When local legend Sir John Egan arrived at Jaguar Cars in April 1980, newly appointed as Chief Executive, the company's very survival was in grave doubt. In fact, the situation looked utterly hopeless and he was greeted at the gates by the workforce - on strike!
The odds against saving Jaguar were immense and Sir John enthralled a local audience on Friday explaining how he overcame these odds and piece by piece, rebuilt this great company.
Sir John read extracts of his new book, 'Saving Jaguar' at our at The Courthouse Ballroom. Our wonderful fellow local business Square Wine ran a bar for the evening - so we sipped the finest fizz whilst hearing about the fanciest of cars! The event attracted car enthusiasts as well as faces from local industry, all inspired by Sir John's tales and achievements. After the talk guests enjoyed a glass of wine and an opportunity to meet the author.
Sir John's experiences were gripping and we really recommend this book for the difficult to buy for gent this Christmas! We can order copies in.
Thank you to Sir John and Square Wine for making this event a success and to all that came to join us!
