Quartet colour 2008 (2)

Probably the two most popular works in the chamber music repertoire are Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet and Schubert’s Quintet in C, with the second cello.  Add the funniest work in the repertoire, Haydn’s Joke Quartet and there’s a dream programme on offer and exactly this is coming to St John’s Church, Kenilworth on Saturday 12 June at 7 30pm as part of the 2010 Concerts in Warwickshire Churches series.

The all female Iuventus String Quartet led by Ruth Rogers will perform with two husbands, Thomas Hull on clarinet and Nicholas Holland cello.  Tickets are available at Kenilworth Books and cost £10, with £1 for children and students.

Concerts in Warwickshire Churches, which started in the early 80s is now run by Leamington Music and other concerts in the series are in Ullenhall, Harbury, Barford, Leek Wootton and Leamington.  The concert in Leek Wootton is on Saturday 5 June and features the string trio Kosmos with Serbian accordion player Milos Milivojevic playing klezmer music, music from the Balkans and the East Mediterranean, tangos and gypsy music.  As with the St John’s Kenilworth concert, it’s highly recommended.  Full details on www.leamingtonmusic.org
