A Review by Abigail Robinson

Eldest, the second of four books in the Inheritance Cycle, continues three days after the end of Eragon. Eragon must now travel to Ellesmera in Du Weldenvarden, the land of the elves, to begin his training with Togira Ikonoka. However, his training is not as easy as it should be as he keeps being racked with pains from his spine where Durza split it in their last battle. He finds many surprises on his adventure, some good, and some not so good. And in the end he meets the one person he never expects to see.

I absolutely loved Eragon when I first read it and I knew immediately I wanted to read the whole series. This book was definitely just as exciting and left me constantly thinking about it whenever I wasn’t reading it. Even at parts of the book that I didn’t like as much as others, by the time I read the book again, I loved them and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next.

At times Eragon was acting a bit in ways I didn’t think he’d act in the first book but at other times I felt sorry for him or really understood how he felt –  so he is still one of my favourite characters in the book.

On the whole it was an amazing book though where I would give Eragon 10/10 I might give this 9.5/10 but it is still one of my favourite books along with the rest of the Inheritance Cycle. I can’t wait to read the next one and I really recommend them all for anyone who loves fantasy and long books!
