A Review By Carolyn Dews
‘Room’ was shortlisted for the Man Booker prize this year.
Although the subject matter of the book was harrowing it ended up being more a book of innocence, strength and courage.
The story begins on the fifth birthday of a little boy and it is told in his words. He lives in a place called ‘room’ with his mum, in reality a one-room prison. His routine seems normal for a child of that age with one or two exceptions. His mother is dedicated to his safety and upbringing. One day she decides to explain there is more to the world than the room, from then on his life begins to change……
Do give it a go. Everyone who has read it seems to enjoy it.
