A Review By Alex Monnington

This million copy bestseller is set in Norway and the main character is, as you may have guessed, Sophie. The story begins with her receiving 2 questions in the post by Alberto Knox. This then explodes into an adventure through philosophy covering everything from Socrates to Wittgenstein, but don’t be put off thinking it’s some complex and boring textbook, the ideas and arguments covered are as Einstein would have said “ as simple as possible, but no simpler”

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone especially if they have an interest in climbing up the fine hairs of the rabbit’s fur to look into the magician’s eyes (for this to make sense you have to read the book). It’s a great introduction to a subject that many feel is too daunting for them to think about. And it’s a good story so it’s good to read even if you have only a minimal interest in philosophy, which could change after the 1st line.
