Ah, the joy of a proper British pie, replete with gravy; or a really well thought-out shortbread, made with real butter and sparkly sugar sprinkled on top. Or how about Welsh Cakes, freshly cooked and still warm? Who needs American muffins when we British have Seville Orange Marmalade Pudding, eh?

And, well, I might just try making a Somerset Apple Cider Cake to have after the Cornish Pasties. Treacle Tart?! Ooh, now you’ve got me. Are you a cream or custard person?

 If your mouth is watering now, then I’ve got just the book for you: The Great British Book of Baking, published to accompany the BBC’s Great British Bake Off series. Seriously, it makes you proud to be British. Up with steamed puddings!
